Media: Biden will announce the transfer of Abrams tanks to Ukraine on January 25

US President Joe Biden intends today, January 25, to announce the dispatch of American Abrams tanks to Ukraine. About it informs Al Jazeera, citing a US government source.

Reuters, citing two American officials, also writesthat Washington is ready to announce the supply of weapons to Kyiv on Wednesday. According to another interlocutor, we can talk about 30 Abrams tanks, which will be transferred in the coming months.

ABC channel source claimsthat the US can supply Ukraine with 30 to 50 tanks. The interlocutor admitted that the Ukrainian military would receive them no earlier than in a year, since the United States needs to conclude contracts for the supply of tanks with their manufacturer.

CNN Sources addedthat the timing of the arrival of military equipment in Ukraine is still unclear. The channel also notes that it takes several months to train the military in the use of tanks.

The day before, January 24, The Wall Street Journal also wrotethat the administration of US President Joe Biden is leaning towards the decision to send Abrams M1 tanks to Kyiv. Sky News Arabia TV channel claimed that it was about sending 10 tanks. Later at the Pentagon this information not confirmed.

The Kremlin has repeatedly warned about the negative consequences of sending tanks to Ukraine. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the transfer of weapons would not fundamentally change the situation, but would “add problems” for Ukraine.

Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin declaredthat the supply of offensive weapons by Western countries to Kyiv will lead to a global catastrophe. He warned that in such a case, Russia would have to use "more powerful weapons."

Earlier today, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov accused Washington is in a "war by proxy" with Moscow. He stressed that sending American Abrams tanks to Ukraine would be a "blatant provocation", and military equipment would be destroyed by the Russian army.
