McDonald’s will open its restaurants in Ukraine in the coming months. The company announced the resumption of work in a letter to employees, claims Associated Press. This was also reported by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.
“We have been actively talking to our staff who have expressed a strong desire to get back to work and reopen restaurants in Ukraine…In recent months, the belief that this will maintain a small but important sense of normality has been strengthened,” the senior vice president said in a message to staff. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that restaurants in Kyiv and the western part of Ukraine will be opened first. “Preparations for the direct opening of the doors of restaurants will take some more time,” he wrote on Facebook (the social network belongs to Meta, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). In his opinion, the return of McDonald’s is an important signal for international business about the opportunity to work in Ukraine.
The McDonald’s network has 109 restaurants in Ukraine. Their work was suspended in March amid Russia’s military operation. It is not yet known how many of them will return to work in the coming months.
