“I have an absolutely negative attitude to statements that put only the flag and the anthem as one of the conditions, and otherwise non-participation in international competitions,” the minister said.
According to him, the non-participation of Russian athletes in major transnational competitions also jeopardizes interaction with the international sports community.
On January 25, the International Olympic Committee called on sports federations to consider the possibility of allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes who did not actively support the SVO in a neutral status. On February 2, the committee reported that the decision on the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 had not yet been made.
