Makei: Canada did not give visas to experts from Belarus for a meeting on Ryanair

Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, in an interview with RIA Novosti, said that Canadian representatives did not issue visas to the Belarusian side to participate in a meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization on the incident involving the Ryanair aircraft.

He clarified that this was done purposefully and says that the Canadian authorities are afraid of refuting “the speculation set out in the incident report.”

Recall that in May last year, a Ryanair aircraft made an emergency landing at Minsk airport due to a report of mining. Later it was not confirmed. At the same time, on board the aircraft were one of the founders of the Telegram channel, recognized as extremist in Belarus, Roman Protasevich and his girlfriend.

The ICAO later released a report that the report of a bomb on board the aircraft was “knowingly false”. It was handed over to the flight crew at the direction of the Belarusian authorities.
