Russian troops must leave the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which supposedly will ensure the safety of the power plant, French President Emmanuel Macron said in a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky. About it informs Reuters, citing a statement from the Elysee Palace.

“The French President stressed the urgent need to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant, which can only be achieved through the withdrawal of Russian forces,” the statement said.

Members of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) left ZNPP earlier today, leaving two people as observers. The IAEA mission arrived at the Russian-controlled Zaporozhye nuclear power plant on September 1. The experts inspected the territory of the station, accompanied by representatives of the Russian “Rosatom” and employees of the station.

The head of the agency, Rafael Grossi, left the station on the same day, leaving 8 experts and four escorts on it, said Alexander Volga, head of the military-civilian administration (CAA) of Energodar. Early this week, the IAEA will present a report on the ZNPP visit to the organization’s board of governors.

During August, Zaporizhzhya NPP and Energodar were repeatedly shelled by the armed forces of Ukraine, local authorities and the Russian Defense Ministry reported, where they called such actions “nuclear terrorism”.
