LTE and 5G base stations will be assembled from a “constructor”

The Novosibirsk developer of telecom equipment Eltex in 2023 should present a hardware platform for the independent production of 4G and 5G base stations, three sources in the mobile communications market told Vedomosti. The solution can support the OpenRAN principle, sources in two cellular operators specified. The need to create such a platform is also mentioned in the passport of the road map “Modern and promising mobile communication networks” for the period up to 2030, prepared by Rostec, Rostelecom and ICS Holding. The document is at the disposal of Vedomosti.

Development work on this project should be completed by September 2023, the roadmap says. Among the performers are Eltex and technology partners. As a source in one of the operators explained to Vedomosti, Eltex was chosen because it is a large vendor with a real production base and already produces a large range of products.
