Long winter in Ukraine: the country will have to live without electricity and fuel

Attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure have brought its energy collapse closer. Yesterday, a number of power plants were put out of action, as a result of which the country was partially de-energized. Poltava, Kharkiv Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Sumy regions lost power for a while, information appeared about power outages in some areas of Kyiv. Meanwhile, Ukrainian politicians are making increasingly gloomy predictions: the winter for Nezalezhnaya could turn into a disaster.

While President Volodymyr Zelensky, in search of foreign weapons, pathetically talks about a turning point in hostilities, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, is more cautious in his forecasts.

According to the official, problems with the ZNPP could become critical in the coming season. “If, God forbid, the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant does not produce enough energy for our country, it will be extremely difficult for us in winter,” Danilov believes. However, Zelensky himself warned in the summer that next winter would be the most difficult for Ukrainians in the entire history of the country.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko was also prophetic about this back in August. Then he called on the residents of the Ukrainian capital to stock up on warm clothes in a timely manner.

The mayor warned that the temperature in the houses could be below normal, there could be power outages. The final warning is already coming true. “In Kyiv, there are severe power outages and a complete power outage of the railway to Sumy, Kharkov and Poltava. People are advised to unplug everything. The South Ukrainian and Khmelnytsky nuclear power plants are being stopped,” local social networks reported.

“Of course, shutting down the ZNPP will have serious economic consequences for Ukraine,” he said. Andrey Suzdaltsev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, National Research University Higher School of Economics- Without 20%, and now there is a figure of 30%, lost electricity, it will be very difficult for Ukraine to survive the winter

They will find something for the troops, but the country will not be able to exist without electricity - there will be no television, light, heating. It will be a disaster for them.

As for yesterday's strikes on thermal power plants, this was the first time we struck at the energy system of Ukraine, and the effect was colossal. I must say that until recently, most of the population of Ukraine lived as if nothing was happening. There is water, electricity, gas - surprisingly, Russian. Trains run, imports go. Everything is in the stores. And everything was taken as if it was the norm. Our blow sobered them up a bit."

A significant increase in food prices is also expected. Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, has already warned that it will be impossible to keep down prices for the ingredients needed for Ukrainian borscht in winter. At the same time, Ukrainians are already experiencing depression when shopping. “Prices in stores have increased by 200 percent,” Alexandra, a resident of Kyiv, told MK.

The well-known Ukrainian political scientist and economist Oleksandr Dudchak.

- The situation in winter in Ukraine will be worse than in Europe. Problems with electricity are likely to be regular now, and in addition, there will be problems with communications - even before the start of the NWO, residents of Ukrainian cities very often disturbed emergency services. I had to fix breaks in pipes, breaks in wires and so on in the winter. Communications in the country are worn out decently, but no one wants to invest in a hopeless business.

– How do you assess Ukrainian reserves: oil, coal, fuel. Will there be enough supplies to survive the winter?

- Vladimir Zelensky has already promised to sell coal to the Poles. Stocks are higher than last year, he said. But he is completely indifferent to the fate of his fellow citizens and he agrees to sell everything that is possible: Both food and energy resources. How many enterprises will close, how many people will find themselves in an extremely difficult situation - this is another question.

Stocks of oil and oil products in Ukraine's fuel depots are also targets for strikes by the RF Armed Forces. Therefore, it is incorrect to talk about their number. Ukraine, after the defeat of the oil refineries that remained there, partially managed to overcome the fuel crisis within the country, gasoline appeared at gas stations, but I think that this situation will not last long.
