Lokomotiv-Kuban opened a unique training center

New home for the youth team “Loko”

Active news came from the camp of basketball players. The main one is that the long-awaited youth training center of PBC Lokomotiv-Kuban has opened its doors. On September 17, the opening ceremony was held, which was attended by many distinguished guests. Among them are the first vice-governor of the Krasnodar Territory Igor Galas, the acting mayor of Krasnodar Maxim Slyusarev, the executive director of the RFB Vladimir Dyachok, the first Olympic trampoline champion Alexander Moskalenko and many others.

As noted in the club, this complex is unique for Russia. It has three covered platforms with stands designed for five hundred people. There is also an outdoor 3v3 basketball court. Also, the sports complex is equipped with a hotel, a gym, a canteen and a medical center.

An international tournament hosted by this center was timed to coincide with the opening. The youth teams of Lokomotiv-Kuban, Zenit and CSKA, as well as the Turkish Tofazh played in it. Krasnodar lost to foreign guests, but defeated both Russian rivals and took second place. Won the Tofaj tournament.

The main team of Lokomotiv-Kuban completed training in Turkey. Three final matches were not the best, Krasnodar lost in all of them. The most sensitive defeat came from Bahceshihir Kolezha. Then Loko lost to another Turkish team Karsiyaka – 71 : 85. In the final match Krasnodar lost to Crvena Zvezda from Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The opponent was stronger – 73 : 69. Jaylen Burford became the most productive in this game with thirteen points, Andrey Martyuk got twelve, Alexander Shcherbenev got eleven.

The next match Loko will play with another team from Belgrade – Partizan. On September 22, Krasnodar will meet with the Serbs in their opening match of the VTB United League Super Cup. The next day, the Kuban team will play against the current champion of the League “Zenith” from St. Petersburg. The play-offs of the tournament will take place on 25 September.

The European Championship has also ended, in which the head coach of Loko Alexander Sekulich led the Slovenian national team. Alas, the team stopped a few steps away from the top three, although it was one of the main contenders for medal sets. In the quarterfinals, the team of Sekulich and NBA star Luka Doncic unexpectedly lost to Poland. And Spain won, beating France in the final.

Severe SKIF calendar

After losing to Zvezda in the opening match of the Superleague, the handball players of Kuban got a more passable opponent – the Moscow Luch. Despite the status of the capital, the team is not the leader of domestic handball. Luch prepares young players and occupies an outsider niche.

With such teams, however, sometimes there are problems with the mood. Krasnodar warmed up the entire first half, which ended with a score that was not the most appropriate for the difference in the level of teams, 15: 13 in favor of Kuban. In the second half of the meeting, the Krasnodar players cheered up and brought the matter to a defeat befitting the situation – 34: 24. Anastasia Shavman became the most productive in Kuban, who scored six goals. By the way, she was the only one from the club who received an invitation to the Russian national team, which will hold training camps and then control matches against Belarus.

And the team of Denis Saifulin has a test of strength ahead of the champion of the country “Rostov-Don” on September 21.

For the men’s SKIF, the beginning of the championship is even more difficult. The team has no tournament points yet. But the calendar of the wards of Dmitry Karlov, in fairness, is terrifying. In the first match, I had to play with the bronze medalist of the last Russian championship draw, Neva from St. Petersburg. Let us remind you that in the off-season the captain of SKIF Aleksey Archibasov moved there. The final was won by CSKA, the champion of Russia for the last two years. The team of Alexander Alekseenko, who once successfully led the men’s Kuban, continues to dominate women’s rugby.

There are two rounds ahead in Krasnodar, which will be held in October. The remaining four rounds will take place in the first half of 2023.

Competitions were also held in lower leagues in the “seven”. So, the starting round in the Federal League ended for women. The Agrat team from Ust-Labinsk took the third place. Here I won CSKA-2, the third place was won by GUOR Shchelkovo.

The first round of the Major League Rugby-7 championship among men took place in Moscow. The second place was taken by the team of the Krasnodar Territory.
