The capacity of the Portovaya liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant (the project is located in the Leningrad region) can be increased from the current 1.5 million tons per year to 3.5 million tons, Gazprom said on September 15. The company is considering the prospect of expanding capacities together with Rushimalliance (a parity joint venture between Gazprom and Rusgazdobycha) and Gazprom Linde Engineering, agreements between the companies were signed within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

The report emphasizes that if a decision is made to expand the plant, construction will be carried out using Russian equipment and technologies. “The possibility of building an additional technological line with a capacity of up to 2 million tons of LNG per year will be studied,” Gazprom said. Details of the agreement with “Rushimalliance” and “Gazprom Linde Engineering” are not reported.
