The Central Bank softened the rules for trading foreign securities from “unfriendly” countries. Now legal entities will be able to buy securities of “unfriendly” issuers, regardless of whether they have the status of a qualified investor.

“The share of acquired foreign assets in the total value of the investor’s portfolio will be calculated based on data at the end of the previous trading day. Refusal of online settlement will allow brokers to quickly debug the operational process, ”explains in a press release on site The Central Bank is a mechanism for dealing with foreign assets.

At the beginning of September, the regulator notified brokers that from October 1, 2022, they will not have to execute orders from unqualified investors to purchase securities of issuers from “unfriendly” jurisdictions. Also, since October, the share of foreign securities in the investor’s portfolio should not exceed 15% (from December 1 this year, this figure is planned to be reduced to 5%). The restrictions mentioned above apply only to individual investors.
