The cooking show for amateurs is back this Wednesday, September 7 on M6 and is renewed to create a surprise during its 11th season.

After having celebrated its 10e season, “The Best Pastry Chef” returns to M6 this Wednesday, September 7 at 9:10 p.m. by stocking up on new features.

A new castle

The 16 candidates of this 11e opus are thus surprised to be welcomed no longer at the Château de Groussay but in that of Neuville located in Gambay in the Yvelines. A place that undoubtedly brought back memories to Cyril Lignac and in Mercotte since it was in this superb building that season 1 of the program was filmed! The amateur pastry chefs who compete come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We find a truck driver as well as a figure skater, a head of a cybersecurity company, a pharmacist or even a 76-year-old retiree, the oldest of the participants in all seasons.

When they enter the competition, everyone has the opportunity to choose their first event! Mary Portolano, who awaits a happy event and presents the program for the second consecutive year, offers them to work with fruit or chocolate. Everyone makes their choice and, after these first two challenges, eight of them will qualify directly for the competition. The other eight will have to showcase their creativity in a subsidiary challenge by making a cake representing the trip of their dreams.

A second chance

At the end of this first broadcast, two of them will be eliminated but will discover just after the final verdict, that they are being offered… a second chance! They will face each other, in fact, in the new program “The Secret Kitchen”, broadcast in the second part of the evening and presented by Mercotte, Marie Portolano and Christophe Renou, Meilleur Ouvrier de France. The winner will then face the loser of the second show and so on until he finally re-enters the competition… to the total surprise of the candidates still in the running in the show.

Each week, participants will face serious challenges during the creative test with ever more original themes such as “My impossible wish”, “My idol’s bust cake” or “My favorite naughty expression”.

The favorite of the guest chefs

They will be judged by jurors but also by prestigious chefs. Pierre Hermé, Philip Conticini, Glenn Viel, Thierry Marx, Christine Brua, Nina Metayeror Yann Roofer have agreed to participate. At the end of their test, each of them will award a “coup de coeur” to the cake that appealed to them the most. The candidate who receives it will have the advantage of being saved from elimination, if he is in danger, or of scoring points, if he is in the running for the blue apron. Participants will also experience a defining moment as the show celebrates its 100e episode. On this occasion, Cyril Lignac will give a Masterclass. The chef will make a 100% hazelnut croque in front of the participants who will have to follow the tempo… without a recipe but just by following his gestures!
