Deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasiliev (self-nominated) resigned his powers as Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Budget, Taxes and Economic Development. At the beginning of the year, a personal video of his vacation in Mexico hit on the Internet, drawing sharp criticism from representatives of local and federal authorities.

On the resignation by Maxim Vasiliev of the powers of the deputy chairman of the committee informed Governor Roman Starovoit. After the video of the deputy was published, the governor demanded that his behavior be reviewed by the profile commission in the Duma. The Commission issued a warning to Mr. Vasiliev to prevent violations of the rules of deputy ethics. Roman Starovoit’s press secretary, Anastasia Gurina, then told Kommersant that the governor considers this measure insufficient, but understands that the tools for influencing deputies are “extremely scarce.”

More sharply Maxim Vasiliev’s video commented Secretary of the General Council of United Russia (ER) Andrey Turchak. He described Maxim Vasiliev’s behavior as “the height of cynicism and inhumanity” and recommended that he and his wife Svetlana – she was elected to the Kursk City Assembly from United Russia – resign their parliamentary powers: Starovoit” or the realization of their insignificance, albeit belated, but I hope that after the New Year holidays the ranks of the Kursk deputies will thin out.

Maxim Vasiliev himself apologized in front of everyone who was offended by his video, noting that it was actually stolen, as it was intended only for loved ones.
