“Kuban” did not suit the second place in the Cup of Russia in beach rugby

Krasnodar “Kuban” at the Russian Beach Rugby Cup held in Moscow took second place. Having won 5 meetings in a row, in the decisive match the Kuban athletes lost to the Permian Vityaz with a score of 4:5.

Formerly “Kuban” became second in the national championship in this rugby discipline.

The head coach of Kuban spoke about the results of the Russian Cup especially for MK in Kuban Maxim Amonov.

– The result of the Cup is unsatisfactory for us. In general, the composition of the participants was weaker than in the championship. But the same “Vityaz” was in the optimal composition. In fact, we won the decisive match, but gave it away due to the incompetence of the referee, who decided that he could undermine the players’ trust in the coach. I told the girls from the edge how to act correctly, and the referee said that he would give a penalty for this. Although according to the rules, I said everything correctly. As a result, our rugby player did not play the way we had planned at the crucial moment. But they themselves are to blame, it will be a lesson to us. In general, we didn’t manage to play our game, we acted as the second number. We lost the first half, had to bounce back well in the second, and we won it. But as I have already said, the referee gave himself liberties, and our player fell for his chatter. On the other hand, the opponent was not weak, they included 4 European champions in beach and snow rugby, and the coach of the Russian national team, so we did not expect an easy match, – said the specialist.

Ahead of the “Kuban” championship of Russia in rugby-7. The next tour will take place in Krasnoyarsk on September 17-18. Krasnodar will host 2 more rounds in October, the final 4 rounds will take place in the first half of 2022. At the end of August, the Krasnodar Territory team, made up of Kuban players, took part in the Spartakiad of the strongest athletes in Russia, where took 4th place.

– The result of the Spartakiad is still natural. In the next rounds of the championship, for now, we need to stay in 4th place, because the rivals from behind are actively stepping on their heels. Although, of course, our task is to get into the top three at the end of the championship. But only in the spring, now, I repeat, it is important not to give up 4th place. Also this year we will play in the Russian Cup, – said Maxim Amonov.
