Kommersant and Russian Railways invite BAM veterans to GUM – Kommersant
Half a century ago, the construction of the Baikal-Amur Railway (BAM) began, and from the first days of the implementation of this grandiose project, the Ogonyok magazine joined in its coverage. The editors of the magazine created the “Ogonyok on BAM” section for photographs and correspondence.
At the anniversary exhibition on the 3rd line of Moscow GUM, evidence of the construction and operation of the highway, preserved in the archives of the Kommersant Publishing House, is presented. The exhibition includes not only 156 of Ogonyok’s own photographs, but also other artifacts, including an invitation card to a meeting dedicated to the opening of train traffic along the entire length of the BAM, a medal “For the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline,” postcards, pennants, badges , the key to the “golden” link of the road. The exhibition is open to the public until the end of October.
