The international research group Kantar withdrew from the shareholders of JSC Mediascope in September, Kommersant was told in the press service of Mediascope. Kantar transferred its Russian assets to Russian management, they added, declining to disclose other details of the deal.

In Russia, Mediascope JSC and its subsidiary Edfact JSC operate under the Mediascope brand. Kantar owned 20% in Mediascope, 80% of the company is owned by VTsIOM-Media LLC, a subsidiary of the state-owned VTsIOM. Until 2016, Kantar owned 80% of TNS Russia, Mediascope’s predecessor company, the decision to reduce the share to 20% was due to amendments to the advertising law, which imposed a corresponding restriction on the share of foreign participation in TV audience measurement companies.

“Kantar’s exit from the shareholders of Mediascope JSC did not have a significant impact on the company’s work. Since 2016, when Kantar transferred 80% of its shares to VCIOM-Media LLC, a significant part of the work has already been localized. We retain all our obligations to customers and partners and continue to implement all our projects in full,” Mediascope said.
