Kamiel Bonneu surprises the sprinters on the 3rd stage of the Tour of Great Britain

On the sodden roads of Sunderland, in the northeast of Britain, Kamiel Bonneu (23) scored the best victory of his young career by trapping the sprinters and his three escape companions in the last kilometer of the third stage of the National Tour. The Belgian placed a sharp attack which kept the peloton at a distance – which had nevertheless returned to a handful of seconds in the final – to win.

The 163.6 km stage, marked by three ascents for 2500 m of elevation gain, therefore smiled on two attackers: Bonneu, winner of the stage, and the Canadian Ben Perry (WiV SunGod), second of the day but new leader of the general classification to the detriment of New Zealander Corbin Strong (Israel-Premier Tech).
