Japan is ready to consider the proposal of the Americans to deploy medium-range missiles, if such is received, the Sankei newspaper reports.

Citing informed sources in the Japanese government, the publication writes that earlier the Americans addressed this issue only in informal conversations over the past 3-4 years. Then the possibility of deploying LRHW hypersonic missiles and Tomahawk cruise missiles in Japan was discussed.

The island of Kyushu and others are named as possible locations for American missiles. It is also possible that the missiles will be deployed on American warships deployed in the Indo-Pacific region.

The deployment of missiles in Japan is reportedly considered by the Americans as part of a plan to create a system of weapons on the islands of the so-called first chain, which includes Japan, Taiwan, the northern part of the Philippines, and the island of Borneo.

At the same time, the newspaper points out that so far this issue has not been officially addressed recently, although representatives of the leadership talked at the summit of the leaders of Japan and the United States in January of this year, as well as at a meeting of foreign ministers and military departments.
