Israel calls on Beirut suburbs to evacuate immediately
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) called on residents of some houses in the Haret Hreik neighborhood, located in the southern suburbs of Beirut, to leave their homes immediately. The decision stems from IDF allegations of the presence of Shiite Hezbollah installations in the area.
"An urgent warning to residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut, especially those living in the Haret Hreik area and neighboring buildings marked on the maps. You are near dangerous Hezbollah installations. For your safety and the safety of your loved ones, you need to evacuate immediately and stay at at least 500 meters from these buildings,” Arabic-speaking IDF spokesman Avichai Edri said on the social network X.
On September 23, the Israeli Army General Staff announced the start of an offensive operation in Lebanon called “Arrows of the North.” The Israeli Air Force is conducting massive strikes against Hezbollah targets in various regions of Lebanon, including several targeted airstrikes in Beirut, as a result of which senior commanders of the organization were eliminated, including Secretary General Hassan Nasrullah. So far, the Israeli army has reported striking several thousand Hezbollah targets. Observers note that such an intensity of attacks has not been seen since the Second Lebanon War in 2006.
