Irina Viner left the post of head of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation
Irina Viner resigned as president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) after the creation of the united Russian Gymnastics Federation. The head of the united federation was the General Director of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, whose candidacy was nominated for the post on September 14. According to Irina Viner, she had long dreamed of leaving the position she had held since 2008.
“I have dreamed about this for a long time. I offered Alina Kabaeva for many years, but she refused. But man proposes, but God disposes. Now this has given me the opportunity to nominate students who know and understand everything as officials. And all my life I dreamed of being a line coach, and the dream came true, I was, am and will remain,” she said while talking with reporters (quoted by "RIA Novosti").
The united structure, headed by Oleg Belozerov, included: the Federation of Artistic Gymnastics, the Trampoline Federation, the Federation of Sports Acrobatics, the All-Russian Federation of Sports Aerobics and the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
Oleg Belozerov elected president at the reporting and election conference of the new federation. The Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyarev announced the nomination of Mr. Belozerov to the post of president. The general director of Russian Railways himself called his nomination a great honor and promised to “do everything for gymnastics.”
