Iranian women set fire to hijabs and cut their hair in protest

In Iran, women began a protest after the death of 22-year-old Maxa Amini. She was beaten to death by the vice police because her head was allegedly not covered tightly with a hijab. Authorities said the girl died of a heart attack after four days in a coma.
protests broke out already at her funeral in the city of Sekkez. Dissatisfied began to shout “death to the dictator!”, clearly referring to the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some of them made their way to the local governor’s office, where police dispersed them with gunfire and tear gas.
Then Iranian women arranged social media flash mob. They began to film how they cut their long hair and burned hijabs, while shouting anti-government slogans.
It is noteworthy that even government officials and pro-government journalists joined in the harsh criticism of the authorities.
Tehran announced the start of an investigation: the police involved in the death of the girl are under investigation. They can face up to 10 years in prison.
