Inflation declined in most regions in August – Economics – Kommersant

Annual inflation slowed down in August in most Russian regions. The slowdown in price growth was facilitated by the expansion of supplies of domestic and imported food, restrained consumer sentiment and the strengthening of the ruble in previous months, according to analytical materials TSB RF. Prices for foodstuffs decreased in comparison with July in all federal districts, mainly due to fruits and vegetables. Among the non-food products, the most noticeably cheaper appliances and electronics, cars. The main contribution to the slowdown in the growth of prices for services in most regions was made by air transportation.

A slight acceleration in price growth in August was noted in three regions – Ingushetia, Magadan Region and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
