The Hollywood Reporter magazine reported that eight American artists have been charged with cryptocurrency fraud. According to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, among the defendants are actress Lindsay Lohan, adult film star Kendra Last, vlogger and boxer Jake Paul, as well as musicians Akon, Soulja Boy, Lil Yachty and Austin Mahone.

According to the publication, all of them participated in the promotion of cryptocurrency companies of millionaire Justin Sun and hid the fact of receiving money for advertising.

None of the defendants provided an answer to the allegations. However, all but Mahone and Soulja Boy agreed to pay a $400,000 fine.

This is not the first time that Western celebrities have been at the center of a cryptocurrency-related scandal. Last year, authorities fined Kim Kardashian $1.3 million for advertising the token.
