In the city of Perevalsk, a 15-year-old teenager was killed as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces from the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), reports the LPR office in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Issues Related to War Crimes of Ukraine.
“According to updated information, as a result of the shelling of Perevalsk, a fifteen-year-old teenager was killed, six college students aged 15-17 and a teacher born in 1961 were injured,” — says in the message.
Earlier today, representatives of the LPR reported that the Ukrainian military fired at the settlements of the republic twice from HIMARS over the past day. A total of eight missiles were fired.
In Lisichansk, two people were killed during the shelling, and one more was injured. Six multi-apartment residential buildings, a boiler room and a retail facility were damaged. In Stakhanov, as a result of shelling, six apartment buildings and a school building were damaged.
On February 22, Russia recognized the independence of the DNR and LNR. The beginning of the special operation was preceded by the appeal of the republics to Russia for military assistance “on the basis of Articles 3 and 4 of the treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between the Russian Federation and the republics.” On February 24, a military operation began in Ukraine. Its goals, Russian President Vladimir Putin, outlined the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
On July 3, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced the release of the LPR. Now, according to him, the DPR is being released as planned. In early August, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that the Russian military, together with units of the people’s militia of the DPR and the LPR forces, managed to liberate about half of the entire territory of the DPR.
