Today at 8:00 in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as in the Kherson region and part of Zaporozhye, referendums on joining Russia started, which will last until September 27. From September 23 to September 26, voting will take place in the adjacent territories and by targeted bypassing of residents, and on September 27 - in stationary areas.

In the Kherson region, as the head of the CEC Marina Zakharova said the day before, organized 8 territorial and 198 precinct commissions. In total, 750,000 ballots have been prepared, which, according to the commission, is exactly the number of voters in the region now. Voting will take place throughout the region, as well as in the Snigirevsky and Aleksandrovsky districts attached to it.

In the territories of the Zaporozhye region will be 394 polling stations have been opened, 102 more will work in the Crimea, Sevastopol, DPR, LPR and Kherson region. House-to-house voting will also take place for the first four days from 8 to 20:00, on September 27 it will be held from 08:00 to 16:00 at polling stations.

The head of the DPR Denis Pushilin, commenting on the beginning of the referendum, named its historical milestone, which is the culmination of the "common difficult path" of the inhabitants of the republic.

“First we became an independent state. Then they achieved recognition of the republic. And here it is - the third step: unification with Russia," he said in his video message.

How notes Donetsk News Agency, in total, more than 450 polling stations and over 1.5 million bulletins are organized in the DPR. The bulletin, which was shown yesterday at the local CEC, contains the question "Are you for the entry of the Donetsk People's Republic into the Russian Federation as a constituent entity of the Russian Federation?", To which it is proposed to answer "yes" or "no".

Residents of the LPR in a referendum will be asked a similarly worded question, informed formerly "Lugansk Information Center". There are 461 referendum stations in the republic, and another 201 in the regions of Russia.

The Public Chambers of the LPR and the DPR turned to the heads of the republics Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin on September 19 with a request to hold referendums on joining the Russian Federation. After that, Pushilin suggested that Pasechnik synchronize the actions of the authorities of the two republics.

On September 20, the Public Council of the Kherson region turned to the head of the pro-Russian CAA Volodymyr Saldo with a similar request, as well as members of the “We are with Russia” movement to the head of the CAA of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky. Later, the holding of referendums was approved.

The next day, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the citizens of Russia, as well as the residents of Donbass and territories controlled by the Russian Federation. He supported holding referendums and stated that Russia would do everything possible to ensure security in the territories where the vote would take place.
