On the night of September 29-30, 17 settlements were de-energized in the Irkutsk region due to wet snow. As Kommersant was told in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region, by 14:00 local time (9:00 Moscow time) power supply was restored only in six of them, 1,119 houses, in which more than 3 thousand people live, remain without electricity.
“The power outage occurred as a result of the automatic protection of high-voltage lines. The unfavorable weather phenomenon affected only the Taishet region, bordering the Krasnoyarsk Territory, ”the press service of the department said.
As Kommersant was told in the press service of the Irkutsk Electric Grid Company (IESK), restoration work will continue until 22:00 local time (17:00 Moscow time). IESK adds that “the work is complicated by weather conditions.”
