In Samara, surgeons removed a two-kilogram tumor from a three-year-old girl
In Samara, surgeons successfully performed a complex operation on a three-year-old girl from Togliatti, removing a tumor weighing 2 kilograms, the press service of the institution reports.
The operation was performed at the Samara Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. The child was admitted with complaints of abdominal pain. During the examination, doctors discovered a large tumor in the abdominal cavity. The girl was diagnosed with a lipoma, a benign tumor in the abdomen.
“The lipoma grew along with the child in the retroperitoneal space and enlarged, slowly pressing on the abdominal organs,” said the head of the surgical department of the hospital. Ivanova Evgeny Novozhenov.
Doctors decided to perform an operation, which was complicated by the presence of blood vessels in the tumor structure. Fortunately, the operation was successful and the lipoma was completely removed.
