In Karelia, the election results were canceled in eight districts due to the low number of votes for the only candidate


In eight electoral districts of Karelia, repeated elections were scheduled for municipal deputies. In a number of districts, voting will be held in October-November 2022, some of the deputies will be determined at the next elections in 2023. Re-elections had to be held due to the insufficient number of candidates and the number of votes.

“Elections in eight constituencies were declared invalid. The reason is that the elections were held for one candidate, and the candidate did not get more than 50% of the votes,” said Alexei Bakhilin, chairman of the CEC of Karelia (quoted from TASS). The elections were declared invalid, in particular, in the rural settlements of Kurkiekskoye, Khyitolskoye, Rugozerskoye, Ladva-Vetkinskoye, Ladvinskoye, Shokshinskoye Vepsskoye.

Elections in Karelia were held for three days from 9 to 11 September. The head of the region, according to preliminary data from the CEC, was the incumbent governor Artur Parfenchikov - 69.15% of the vote. 23 heads of urban and rural settlements became candidates from United Russia. In the local Duma, United Russia received 86.3% of all deputy seats. "Fair Russia - For the Truth" - 3%, LDPR - 2.7%, Communist Party - 2.4%, Party of Pensioners - 0.5%.
