In Crimea, the defendants in the case of undermining the gas pipeline were convicted

The Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea on Wednesday announced the verdict in the case of last year’s sabotage on a gas pipeline near Simferopol. The court sentenced the accused Nariman Dzhelyalov, Asan Akhmetov and Aziz Akhtemov to 17, 15 and 13 years in a strict regime colony, respectively.
This was reported on Wednesday from the courtroom by RIA Novosti.
It follows from the verdict that, in addition to the terms, Akhmetov and Akhtemov were fined 500,000 rubles each, and Dzhelyalov – 700,000 rubles.
The criminal case was opened in September 2021. The Ministry of Internal Affairs for Crimea reported that on August 23, unknown people deliberately damaged the gas pipeline in the village of Perevalnoye near Simferopol. Those involved in the sabotage were put on the wanted list.
On September 6, one of the leaders of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people (an organization banned in Russia) Nariman Dzhelyalov and two other suspects were arrested. Later, the charges brought against Dzhelyalov were toughened.
