Imports from Russia to the US more than doubled in October

U.S. imports of Russian goods reached $732.4 million in October, more than double the September figure. transmits TASS with reference to the report of the US Bureau of the Census.

The figure for October was the highest in the last five months: in June, imports amounted to $661.1 million, in July - $484.4 million, in August - $522.1 million, and in September it was the lowest since January 2002, reaching $332.1 million. The volume of exports of American products to Russia in October decreased from $90.4 million in September to $80.1 million in October.

Earlier, the US Department of Commerce announced in a press release that it would no longer consider Russia as a country with a market economy. The decision gives the United States the opportunity to apply anti-dumping procedures "to the full extent" to eliminate "market distortions" caused by alleged state interference in the Russian economy.

The Ministry of Economic Development, in turn, said that the circumstances that formed the basis for the US decision on the non-market status of the Russian economy arose after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine and are a direct consequence of the actions of a number of countries, not least the States themselves.
