Kommersant Style talks about the basic rules for caring for the scalp when there is no hair on it. Spoiler: not everything is as simple as it seems.

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to face the fact that his hair has either started to disappear or is gone forever. Androgenetic alopecia, or normal male pattern baldness, is known to be the cause of over 95% of male hair loss. By the age of 35, two-thirds of men experience noticeable hair loss to some extent, and by age 50, about 85% of men have significantly thinned hair. Obviously, the vast majority experience some form of hair loss, but nevertheless, baldness still causes untold suffering and is closely associated with anxiety, self-doubt and low self-esteem, both psychologists and trichologists note.

However, now many men decide to shave their heads baldly, without transitional moments like haircuts with strands thrown over the top of the head. This look looks cool and super stylish, but requires some care. Vladimir Akopdzhanov, art director of the Fonte salon, advises, first of all, not to save on a razor and to plan the time correctly. “Don't think it takes five minutes to shave your head — it's not,” he notes. “On average, it will take you half an hour. Alternatively, you can shave your head with a trimmer and then with a shaver or electric razor. In addition, I recommend using special products (foams, creams), and not what comes to hand. I advise you to wash your shaved head during each visit to the shower, that is, every day, and sometimes twice a day, especially after sports or wearing hats.

Immediately after shaving, it is important to take proper care of the skin: you can refresh it with a cold towel and apply a moisturizer or jojoba oil to soothe and relieve irritation. In general, experts suggest treating the scalp in the same way as the rest of the skin. “The scalp needs care, just like the skin of the face and hands, so when you apply a cream or mask on the face, forehead, do not spare them for the scalp,” says Vladimir. It is also important to protect the skin with an SPF cream (the scalp is a common site of skin cancer in men), exfoliate it twice a week with a scrub. And if the skin is too shiny, then matting wipes will come to the rescue.

However, if the masculine smoothness of the head still makes you feel awkward and you can't wear a baseball cap all the time, then a beard or some stubble can balance the look - it looks very trendy.
