Who doesn’t know the Nespresso brand that revolutionized coffee consumption? The capsules she developed made it possible to get rid of the dirty coffee grounds that are typical for ordinary coffee machines, and made it possible to make the preparation of a drink easy and not burdensome in any conditions. Moreover, the Swiss brand, committed to a circular business model, has made efforts to recycle leftover products. He just announced perhaps the most exotic collaboration within his Second Life concept: used capsules are used in the manufacture of Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin watch cases, and coffee grounds are used in their straps!

Aluminum, fused with used aluminum coffee capsules (at least 28% in the alloy), has become a 42mm case, bezel, crown with the letter “N” and chronograph buttons in anodized green, very fashionable now in the watch industry colors. It is an homage to Nespresso’s Master Origins Peru coffee capsule. The sapphire crystal case back is made from recycled titanium.

Hublot’s patented One Click strap change system features two straps. That’s right: the green rubber strap is made up of 4.1% recycled coffee grounds and 8.2% recycled white rubber, with the rest coming from Hublot’s regular formula. To create the green fabric velcro strap, Hublot collaborated with Nespresso partner SingTex, which has already used recycled coffee grounds to produce Scafe fabric. Made from 5% coffee grounds and 95% recycled polyester, this is the first time it has been used on a watch strap.

With 200 pieces of Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin created, Hublot and Nespresso show how recycled materials can be turned into a luxury item.
