HBC Nantes wants to organize a boxing meeting in front of 11,000 spectators at Hall XXL

HBC Nantes has already organized boxing four times in its usual venue, the H Arena, including three Tony Yoka fights. The first, September 28, 2019 against the German Michael Wallischhad been sold out with more than 6,000 spectators (the other two behind closed doors due to the pandemic). “As we are fitting out the XXL Arena, which is just a hangar without a stand, for two Nantes matches in December, the 15th in the Champions League against Barcelona and the 21st for the arrival of PSG in the French Championship, explains Laleouse, we will take the opportunity to organize boxing there again. »

In 2019, the HBCN surprised by taking an interest in the noble art… “We wanted to create events in our room, says Laleouse. With the president, Gaël Pelletier, we thought that boxing represented the region well. We managed to reach Jérôme Abiteboul, promoter of Yoka, whom we invited to come and see a Nantes match. When he saw the atmosphere there, he said that was what he wanted and we reached an agreement. »
But while all the fights of the three meetings with Yoka had been entirely mounted by Abiteboul, the HBC Nantes will be the sole prime contractor on December 17: “We don’t want a promoter who comes with all his fights, insists Laleouse. We want to make people from the region fight in fights where we don’t know the result in advance. Don’t take viewers for fools. We are working on at least three big international fights and four fights with our regional stars. »
Laleouse is thinking of super-middleweight Christian Mbilli, who lives in Montreal, but whose parents live in Pornic, super-welterweight Souleymane Cissokho, who has already fought in Nantes, and Milan Prat. “Today, Yoka is not expected, but the door is open to him, notes Laleouse. We will announce the program in mid-September and open the rental immediately. »
