Kommersant Style finds out why hand creams have reached a new positioning stage and talks about autumn novelties.

At first, everyone struggled with dry skin after disinfecting gels during the pandemic, now the entire category of hand care products is undergoing changes. While cosmetic brands have been offering them as part of their body care lines for a long time, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what’s happening right now. Now hand creams contain serious ingredients that focus on solving problems such as reducing age spots, rejuvenation, smoothing skin texture. Masks, scrubs, hand serums, separate cuticle products (in a wide variety of options from oils to serums and balms) are becoming a familiar routine.

Despite such a rapid development of this cosmetic trend, men often neglect care, although, as you know, no one has canceled the first impression factor when shaking hands.

“The skin of men is a little denser than that of women, but not everyone works in comfortable conditions in offices,” notes the medical expert of the La Roche-Posay brand, dermatovenereologist Alexander Prokofiev. “Those who are employed in production and are in contact with high temperatures in hot shops or with various chemicals, this is especially important because the skin dries out, cracks, inflammation can appear. As part of creams, the expert advises looking for oils (shea, olive, coconut, argan, macadamia, pumpkin), waxes, ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, lactic acid, vitamins E and C, selenium, herbal extracts. An important addition: all those who are sensitive to strong perfume odors or are prone to allergies should stop at creams without fragrances and dyes.
