Today, Alphabet Corporation President and Chief Investment Officer Ruth Porath reportedthat Google will build a data center and a regional center for working with cloud infrastructure in Thailand, investments in the project will amount to $1 billion. The statement was made in Bangkok, where the top manager met with representatives of the Thai government. Google's investment comes as part of a government plan to develop Thailand's digital industry and create new jobs. The Google project is expected to create about 14 thousand jobs.
For Google, Thailand is an important regional center - the company has been officially present in the country since 2011, during which time, as part of various projects to train specialists in the field of high technology and the digital economy, Google has trained about 3.6 million local citizens who have received the qualifications of software developers and operators support services, etc. Last year, Google announced another project in Thailand to develop cloud infrastructure that will be used by government agencies and small and medium-sized businesses. For large enterprises, Google will launch projects with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. As part of this plan, Google will train about 150 thousand more people in Thailand to work with cloud and AI systems by 2026.
