German representative Rüdriger Köning in an interview with the publication Spiegel stated that NATO is currently not responding to Zelensky’s requests for help, since Ukraine is not part of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to him, now NATO does not have any obligations to build collective self-defense. At the same time, assistance to Kyiv from Western allies should be considered as the actions of individual countries, and not the alliance as a whole.

“Ukraine is not a member of NATO, so there is no talk of collective defense. We do not want NATO to take an active part in hostilities,” Koening said.

He clarified that if the NATO countries come into conflict, this will lead to a big war. 30 countries that do not want this will be drawn into these hostilities.
