Germany urged to prevent Russia's participation in Euro 2024

The national teams of Russia and Belarus should not be allowed to participate in the qualifying tournament for the European Championship in 2024, said German Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faezer. Spiegel reports.

Euro 2024 will take place from 14 June to 14 July 2024 in Germany.

Faezer has already sent the relevant proposals to UEFA President Alexander Ceferin.

According to the official, it is also necessary to deprive Russian and Belarusian officials of membership in influential bodies of international sports associations.

"Football must justify its responsible role and demonstrate a unified position against what is happening," said Faezer.

Earlier, FIFA and UEFA banned Russian clubs and teams from participation in international tournaments.
