The German company RWE has signed an agreement with the UAE corporation Adnoc on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany. The first part of the LNG is to arrive in the country in December 2022. This was reported by the press service RWE.

As follows from the company’s message, 137 thousand cubic meters of LNG will be delivered to Germany during the first delivery. Deliveries will arrive at the port of Elbehaven, located near Hamburg.

RWE and Adnoc also signed a multi-year supply memorandum. According to the document, regular deliveries of LNG from the UAE to Germany will begin in 2023.

Germany began looking for alternative sources of gas after cutting gas supplies from Gazprom. In August, deliveries via the Nord Stream gas pipeline were reduced to 20% of the design capacity, since only one of the six Siemens turbines was operating at the Portovaya gas pumping station. September 2 Gazprom announced on the complete shutdown of Nord Stream due to an oil leak.
