German authorities do not know the reasons for reducing pressure in Nord Stream 2

The German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Protection does not know what caused the pressure drop on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. Also, the ministry does not have data on exactly where this happened. This is stated in comments Ministry of Economy of Germany.

“Today, the network operator Gascade informed us about a sharp drop in pressure in the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline,” a spokesman for the ministry said.

“Currently, we are contacting the relevant authorities to clarify this issue. We still do not have clarity regarding the reasons and the exact facts. It is also still being determined whether the incident occurred in German territorial waters,” the statement said. The Danish authorities were informed as a precautionary measure, the Ministry of Economy notes.

Earlier about the emergency on the pipeline stated its service company Nord Stream 2 AG. According to her, the pressure on line A dropped from 300 to 7 bar overnight. The operator does not name the cause of the emergency, an investigation is underway.
