The Georgian Military Road is closed for heavy vehicles. This decision was made by the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. The reason is snowfall and ice in the region.
Traffic is closed on the Gudauri-Kobi section. The department clarified that the movement of other types of vehicles on this route continues. Trucks will have to wait for the road conditions to improve.
The Georgian military road goes from Vladikavkaz to Tbilisi. It is laid through the Main Caucasian Range. The highest point through which the route is laid is 2387 meters above sea level. Cargoes from Armenia to Russia and back also go through this road.
