Gazprom shareholders approve payment of record dividends

Shareholders meeting of Gazprom approved payment of interim dividends for the first half of 2022. The amount of dividends will be 51.03 rubles. per share, in total, half of the net profit in the amount of 1.208 trillion rubles will be sent to the payment. This is a record for the Russian market. The company pays interim dividends for the first time in its history.
The date on which the persons entitled to receive dividends are determined, the company determined October 11. Dividends will be paid by October 24 to nominal holders and professional market participants. Other persons registered in the register of shareholders – until November 15.
Former Russian government issued company directive recommending the payment of dividends. On August 30, the Board of Directors of Gazprom also recommended to pay the first ever record interim dividends in the company’s history for the first half of the year in the amount of 1.2 trillion rubles. Solution confirmed Alexey Miller, head of the company. Against this background, the Moscow Exchange index during trading for the first time in two months exceeded the level of 2300 points. The company’s shares rose by 33%.
June shareholder meeting refused to pay dividends for 2021, despite the recommendations of the Board of Directors to pay dividends for 2021 in the amount of RUB 52.53. per share. Trading in Gazprom shares on the Moscow Exchange was suspended after falling by 22%.
