Gazprom reminded Moldova of the right to terminate the contract at any time

The Russian company Gazprom explained that reduced daily volume of deliveries to Moldova in October to 5.7 million cubic meters, as Ukraine refuses to accept gas at the Sohranivka station. At the same time, the company noted that Moldova has not yet settled the issue of gas debt. In this regard, Gazprom remindedwhich can terminate the contract with the Moldovan side at any time.

In addition to the fact that the Moldovan side regularly violates the provisions of the contract regarding the terms of payment for the supplied gas, at the same time, through its fault, an agreement has not yet been concluded on the settlement of the historical debt for the supplied gas in previous years, the Russian company said.

“For this reason, Gazprom has the right to terminate the current contract at any time,” reads its message.

Earlier today, October 1, Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova Andrei Spinu informedthat “Gazprom” in October reduced the volume of supplies to Moldova by 30%, and the country will receive 5.7 million cubic meters. m of gas per day instead of 8.06 million cubic meters. m. According to Mr. Spinu, “Gazprom” argued the reduction in supplies of technical reasons.

“Moldovagaz” will ask “Gazprom” for additional volumes of gas, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In 2021, Gazprom extended a five-year contract for the supply of gas to Moldova, subject to timely payment of debts. At the same time, Moldovagaz, 50% of whose shares are owned by Gazprom, several times asked for a debt deferral from the Russian company due to the discrepancy between tariffs and gas prices.
