Vegetables and fruits are extremely beneficial for the body, as they contain vitamins, minerals and fiber, but they can also have an unpleasant effect, said Ekaterina Kashukh, candidate of medical sciences, gastroenterologist at the Gemotest laboratory, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.

According to her, in some cases, these products can have a negative effect on the gastrointestinal tract, as well as contribute to allergies. Kazhuh urged caution about vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, as they do not contain the substance solanine, which is fraught with food intolerances or allergies for some.

However, she did not recommend completely abandoning these products, so as not to lack vitamins C, A, E, K, folic acid, potassium, magnesium and antioxidants.

She also pointed out that vegetables such as potatoes, corn and pumpkin are not very beneficial due to their high starch content. This is especially true for diabetics and those seeking to lose weight. She recommended non-starchy vegetables – cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini, all kinds of greens, including spinach, celery and parsley.

According to Kazhuh, when choosing berries and fruits, you need to choose those that contain the least possible amount of histamine, which stimulates vasodilation. This category includes strawberries, raspberries, bananas and citrus fruits.
