The Financial Times, citing unnamed officials, reported on what the West’s response to Russia’s alleged use of nuclear weapons during a special operation might be.

Two sources said it is likely that the West will not respond in a mirror manner. They believe that the US and its allies will take retaliatory steps with the use of conventional weapons.

Three more sources said that the NATO countries conveyed their position to Moscow and outlined specific steps in case the nuclear scenario is played out.

Earlier, Assistant to the US President for National Security Jake Sullivan also said that Washington had informed the Kremlin that “any use of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic consequences for Russia.”

Recall that earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western countries have already reached nuclear blackmail against Russia. According to Putin, in order to protect its territorial integrity and its people, Russia will be ready to use all means at its disposal for protection.
