The Abrams tanks that the US has promised to send to Ukraine need serious logistical support. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing interviewed experts.
“For decades, US Army armored units have lamented the long logistical tail needed to keep the Abrams combat capable in war zones,” the article notes.
They added that Ukraine needs “well-functioning weapons.” At the same time, the American way of warfare needs “all the logistics of the world,” said military expert John Nagle.
Compared to the German Leopard, it will be more difficult and longer to teach the military of the Armed Forces how to handle Abrams. They also require more parts and run on jet fuel, which is harder to get.
Recall that Washington promised to send 31 units of Abrams M1A2 tanks to Kyiv.
