French writer Annie Erno wins Nobel Prize in Literature



French writer Annie Ernault received the Nobel Prize in Literature "for the courage and clinical poignancy with which she exposes the roots, alienation and collective limitations of personal memory." The writer will receive 10 million Swedish kronor (about $911,000).

Annie Erno was born on September 1, 1940 in Lillebonne. Her first novel was published in 1974. Her writings are mostly autobiographical. So, she wrote about her teenage years, about marriage, about abortion, about breast cancer. Erno has written more than 20 books.

2021 Nobel Prize in Literature received British writer of Tanzanian origin Abdulrazak Gurna. He was awarded for "an uncompromising and sensual denunciation of the consequences of colonialism and the fate of refugees in the maelstrom of cultures and continents."
