French Ambassador summoned to Russian Foreign Ministry over arms supplies to Ukraine

French Ambassador to Russia Pierre Levy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry for clarification regarding the provision of military-technical support to Kyiv by Paris. He was also pointed out the unacceptability of creating obstacles to the work of the Russian delegation in the UN Security Council.

“Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Alexander Grushko gave fundamental assessments of military-technical support for Ukraine from France and other Western countries,”— says in the message.

Also, the ambassador at the Foreign Ministry was told that the supply of weapons to Ukraine contradicts the assertions of Paris that France is interested in a peaceful settlement of the conflict. He was reminded of various attempts to disrupt the meetings of the UN Security Council, where France is currently chairing, and cases of depriving Russia of the opportunity to participate in them.

October 1 reportedthat France will supply Ukraine from 6 to 12 155-millimeter self-propelled artillery mounts (ACS) Caesar. Previously, these howitzers were intended for Denmark. Negotiations on the transfer of weapons were held between French and Ukrainian Presidents Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
