According to German Zubarev, Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, scammers have developed a new way to deceive Russians. This time they place QR codes in public places, with the help of which various social benefits are promised to citizens. Under the pretext of accruing funds, people are lured out of information to steal money.

“We have identified the following fraudulent scheme. QR codes are placed in public places, citizens are invited to get a free consultation on a guaranteed social payment. After a person scans such a QR code, he will be redirected to a chat bot in the messenger. One of the options for social benefits, but in order to receive it, you must transfer your personal and financial information. Having received them, the scammers will withdraw all the money from the card,” Zubarev explained to Izvestia.
