Former PR manager of the head of Bashkiria asks to recognize himself as a foreign agent

The former deputy of the administration of the head of Bashkiria, Radia Khabirova, his PR manager and ex-head of the Public Chamber of the Republic, Rostislav Murzagulov, filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation against the Russian Ministry of Justice, in which he asks to recognize himself as a foreign agent.

The statement of claim says that Rostislav Murzagulov is engaged in political activities hostile to the existing system in Russia, works in the media recognized as foreign agents, creates new media, subsequently recognized as foreign agents, and has been receiving foreign funding since August of this year. The former official believes that the Ministry of Justice is improperly exercising his powers, since he was not included in the register of foreign agents-individuals.

In March 2022, Rostislav Murzagulov left Russia and is currently located in Lithuania. In August, it became known that the former official became the host of Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s Open Media program (included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation).

Earlier, Mr. Murzagulov repeatedly spoke out against opposition leader Alexei Navalny and activists of the Ufa headquarters (the network of headquarters was recognized as an extremist organization and banned in the Russian Federation). In particular, being the chairman of the board of directors of the state information holding “Bashinform”, he supported the non-admission of activists of the headquarters to public hearings on the budget of Bashkiria. “They have no good purpose for the country, for the republic,” said Rostilav Murzagulov, calling Alexei Navalny “a petty bastard leading a sect.”
