Former MAI Rector Anatoly Gerashchenko Died



Former rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) Anatoly Gerashchenko died in an accident, the university said. "News" they write that the 72-year-old Mr. Gerashchenko "fell from a great height" at the university.

According to the source of the publication, the former rector "flew several flights of stairs." Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced him dead.

“Currently, a commission is being formed to investigate this fact, which will include representatives of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the State Labor Inspectorate in Moscow and the Moscow Aviation Institute,” the university told TASS. The institute did not provide details of the incident.

Anatoly Gerashchenko served as rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute in 2007–2015. Recently, Mr. Gerashchenko worked as an adviser to the rector.
