Ukraine will not soon be accepted into the European Union, says former head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker.
He is annoyed by the carelessness of many politicians, including Western ones, who promise Ukraine an early accession to the European Union. “I don’t see that option,” he told the Kurier newspaper.
Ukraine, in his opinion, will be able to join the European Union only after the end of the conflict and the necessary reforms in the country. “Which will not happen soon,” Juncker is sure. At the same time, he considers it very likely that in the long term Ukraine will join the European Union.
The former head of the European Commission also spoke in favor of contacts with Russia and China. He called for “signals” of readiness for dialogue.
